Travis Greene shares his decision to sing at the inauguration
Travis Greene went to Facebook to share why he will be singing at one of the inauguration ball's this Friday.
I was supposed to do an interview this morning with friend to the show Travis Greene. We were scheduled to do an interview with Don Jackson of the Stellar Awards, to announce the final nominees for the upcoming show. But I got a call 5 mins. before the interview telling me I couldn't ask about him singing at the inauguration. I was troubled internally based upon that conversation. What I do is more than promote an event, and play music. I inform, uplift, and share from my scope; this is my narrative, this is my commentary as I said on the show earlier today. So when people tune into my show they listen to hear my perspective on things. Well if I can't ask a question you limit me as a journalist, and as a radio professional. I don't mind promoting and sharing about what you want to discuss, but let's both win. Allow me to get my questions in as well and we can discuss what you want to discuss. I had this same situation recently with Rev. Al Sharpton. He wanted to come on and discuss the Trumpet Awards which his company was promoting. I was more than happy to do the interview, but in the middle of our most polarizing election I had some questions for him. I'm not sure if it was a time issue or not but I asked him questions about the show, and once I turned to the election he was gone...so needless to say my audience didn't hear about the Trumpet Awards on my show. So today I took a different approach. I'm still talking about the Stellar's, but on my own terms. I'm talking about what I want to discuss. I reached out to Travis as well to let him know why we didn't have the conversation today. I am not bothered with him, the show made the call to choose what we can ask and not ask so my issue is with them.
I said all of that to say. I support Travis Greene in his decision. And it's not about agreeing or disagreeing about it. I don't have to go, he does. I pray nothing but the Lords best for him as he goes and I pray that God is glorified in the process. So often we like to play God and don't realize it with how we jump on people for making a decision they feel strongly about. I don't like the behavior I see from our new president, however who am I to say that God cannot use one of his own to bring glory to this situation. So before we judge him harsh, keep that in mind. Jennifer Holiday had to back out due to death threats...really??? Over singing a song???
We're praying for Travis on not only this opportunity, but he has the tour coming up, his live recording, and the 9 stellar nominations!
Travis also talked with TMZ about his acceptance to sing...
